One in four people on this planet are South Asian.

The medicine wasn’t built for us.

For those of us living outside South Asia, in London, New York, Toronto, Dubai, Sydney, the Gulf, this mismatch compounds.

Your body carries the metabolic inheritance of your ancestors. Your environment does not. The collision between ancient biology and modern Western life creates risks that no standard playbook was designed to catch.

The research didn’t include us. The reference ranges weren’t calibrated on us. The thresholds that separate “healthy” from “at risk” came from bodies that don’t look like ours, don’t metabolize like ours, don’t carry the same inheritance.

We’ve been making do with protocols designed for someone else, and wondering why the numbers never quite made sense, why the advice never quite fit, why we kept falling through the cracks of a system that wasn’t looking for us.

Zinda exists because we’re done waiting to be seen.

This is true precision medicine that starts with your body. Your ancestry. Your biology. Not approximations borrowed from populations that had the privilege of being studied first.

We’re building the playbook that should have existed decades ago, for the people who were never going to get it from anyone else.

Zinda means alive.

It’s what we intend for you to be.

Who Writes This

Omar Saleem, MD is a internal medicine and longevity medicine practitioner focused on South Asian population health and precision preventive medicine. He practices in the United States and is the founder of Zinda Health.

Who is Zinda for?

Anyone of South Asian descent, whether you live in South Asia, the diaspora, or anywhere in between, who wants health guidance built on your biology, not borrowed from populations where the research happened to be conducted.

What do you mean by “South Asian”?

The Indian subcontinent and its diaspora: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the global communities descended from these regions.

I’m not South Asian. Is this still useful?

Much of what we cover applies broadly, longevity science, metabolic health, precision medicine principles. But the specific protocols and biomarker targets are calibrated for South Asian physiology.

Is this medical advice?

This is health education, not personal medical advice. The content here is designed to make you a more informed participant in your own care, not to replace your physician.

How is this different from other health newsletters?

Most health content treats you as a generic human. We start from the premise that your ancestry matters, your specific biology matters, and protocols derived from populations that excluded you will systematically fail you.
